Motwani said with the latest government incentives, the price of electric three-wheelers will come down, making it attractive even in markets where high-speed autorickshaws (petrol/ CNG/diesel) rule the roost. Pune: City-based electric auto and golf cart maker Kinetic Green is looking at product innovation to grow through the Covid-19 phase.

With three-wheeler segment staying muted in the foreseeable future due to the lockdowns, the firm has transitioned on using the same vehicle platform to make retail vans, among others.

“The platform for three-wheelers and e-commerce vehicle is the same. We are just using it to meet the demand of vegetable vendors, e-commerce delivery, sprayer vans, among others, and produce less of electric autorickshaws,” Sulajja Firodia Motwani, founder and chief executive officer, Kinetic Green Energy and Power Solutions Ltd, said.

Last year, the company had earned Rs 75 crore by selling 3,000 vehicles. Motwani said over 2,000 of these were electric three-wheelers, mainly sold in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and states where cycle rickshaws were in vogue. “This year, we will net in a revenue of Rs 100 crore and sell 5,000 vehicles, including the servicing a part of the order for waste-collection vehicle from the Andhra Pradesh government that the company won last year,” she said.

However, to receive a real big shot in the arm, the markets in West and South India will have to open up for the company. Motwani said with the latest government incentives, the price of electric three-wheelers will come down, making it attractive even in markets where high-speed autorickshaws (petrol/ CNG/diesel) rule the roost.
